Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation of Roberts who reside in Atlanta. Her father was the first interest to stage. While he was a student at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in several productions. He joined the air force in 1953. While working in Biloxi Mississippi, he was a part of a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in Air Force. The couple got married in 1955 and their first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter along with his wife were discharged from their Air Force service in the year 1957 and enrolled Walter in Tulane University. Walter became a member of Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio when the family relocated from Atlanta to Georgia's Decatur in the year 1960. Walter as well as Betty Lou began producing a children's TV show in Decatur, Georgia called Bum Bum and His Buddies. They funded the show their own. They founded an Actors and Writers Workshop in the year 1964, and it was in operation for a period of six years. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also known as Lisa) and Julia (also also known as Julie) in this time.
